SERIES OF FIRES KEEP 74 BUSY
 Saturday, April 29, 2006

From April 24th through April 27th Company 74 kept busy
with a series of working fires and mutual aid assists. On Monday, Tower 74 was dispatched
as the RIT truck to assist Company 19 (Lansdowne) on a working building fire at
87 S. Lansdowne Avenue. Tower 74 responded with a crew of six and stood by on the fire scene
for about 30 minutes. On Tuesday, Tower 74 responded yet again to Lansdowne as the RIT
Truck on a second alarm fire this time on 37 N. Wycombe Ave. After the Tower arrived, it was
put in service with ventilation and fire suppression and replaced on RIT by crews from Company 20
(Garrettford-Drexel Hill). 74-1 later responded to this alarm to assist with firefighting efforts.
Crews from Tower 74 and 74-1 were on scene for over two hours. On Wednesday afternoon,
Company 74 responded to 109 N. Diamond Street in Clifton Heights for a working building fire.
The crew of 74-1 was ordered to the roof to open up and assist with ventilation inside. Crews cleared
the scene in about 90 minutes. Early Thursday morning brought the final fire of the series when
Tower 74 was dispatched to Tall Trees Apartments on Township Line Road for a working
building fire. Tower 74 was initially assigned RIT duties but was then put in service to assist
with searching the numerous apartments that were in the building.
