On Saturday night January 27, 2007 a large gathering of people were present at Station 74 to wish
Chief John B. Rankin Jr. a happy retirement. Chief Rankin joined the Primos-Secane Westbrook Park Fire
Company in April of 1967 at the age of 18. Over the last 35+ years the he has served in many
different capacities with the fire company which include Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief and

and put two new pieces of apparatus in service. Chief Rankin has also played a major role in the design
and completion of our new firehouse and facilitated the move of the company into the new quarters.
During the retirement party friends, colleagues, and members of the fire company were on hand to show
their appreciation for a job well done. Upper Darby Township CAO Thomas Judge was on hand to present
an award on behalf of Mayor F. Raymond Shay. Chief Rankin’s son and Board of Director Kevin Rankin,
also presented two awards on behalf of the Fire Company and Fire Crew. The Members of the
Primos-Secane Westbrook Park Fire Company would like to thank Chief John B. Rankin Jr. for all
of his hard work and dedication throughout the years and we would like to say thank you for
taking us from the past and propelling us well into the future! Best wishes on your retirement Chief.
