SMALL FIRE IN THE LOCAL
Saturday, November 18, 2006
Just as the night tour was starting to cook their dinner, the box alarm was struck for the 600 blk
of South Ave. in our local for the building fire, bring in companies 74, 20 (Garrettford-Drexel Hill),
03 (Clifton Heights), and 36 (Cardington-Stonehurst). Engine 74-1 and Chief 74-9 both quickly
responded; and since the address was close to the station, they both arrived quickly to find
nothing evident at first. Upon investigation of the Engine co., they found a small fire on the exterior
porch roof caused by electrical wires on the roof. The crew from the Engine quickly shut off the power
to the wires and the crew from ladder 20 stretched an 1 3/4" waterline from Engine 74-1 to extinguish
the small fire. Crews were able to keep the fire contained to just the exterior of the roof, and were
able to make it back to the station in time for dinner.
